This year, I am taking part in the Charles-Bruneau Cup with a very special source of inspiration: Émile.
At only 8 years old, Émile reminds us what resilience and hope truly mean. Despite a difficult diagnosis, he faced the challenges with incredible energy. Now in remission, he is back on the ice and enjoying the joy of playing hockey once again.
His journey is proof that research changes lives. Thanks to the advances made possible by the Charles-Bruneau Foundation, children like Émile can not only heal, but also dream, build blanket forts, and imagine a world where all sick children are cured.
On September 27, when I play, I will be thinking of Émile and all the little heroes like him. Every effort will be dedicated to them and to the hope of a future without childhood cancer.
